About Rodney Taylor
I have been a Chartered Accountant for 30 years and in that time have dealt the financial affairs of a wide variety of people. In my experience each client is unique and has special requirements which need individual attention. Because I work from my home office I am able to give a flexible service at a competitive price. I can arrange meetings in the evening or at weekends when convenient to you so that you do not lose working time. My approach is to find the simplest and most cost-effective way of dealing with your affairs. My fees are agreed in advance, so that you will not receive unexpected bills.
As a qualified Chartered Accountant I am governed by the rules of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, and undergo Quality Assurance Reviews which ensure that my service meets the standards required by the Institute.
I am also a member of the Federation of Small Businesses, which is the UK’s largest organisation of independent business people. It campaigns vigorously on taxation, business regulation and many other issues to ensure that the small business sector, which is the lifeblood of local commerce and employment, remains strong in the face of tough economic conditions and complex regulation.
My clients come from a variety of sectors, including retailing, fitness and leisure, engineering, computing, recruitment and the building industry. I also advise pensioners on their tax affairs, providing assurance that they are paying the right amount of tax.
I am also involved in the establishing of a microfinance institution in Lesotho, Southern Africa. Microfinance gives small loans to people who are too poor to have bank accounts. It has been incredibly successful in Asia, and it is beginning to be successful in many parts of Africa. Lending to poor people improves their self-reliance and gives them confidence to earn money to keep their families.
When not working, my activities include running, long distance walking and motorcycle riding. I have completed the Flitwick and Barton 10km events, the latter organised by Arnold Middle School. My son, Chris, and I recently completed a 200 mile walk from Fort William to Cape Wrath over some of the most rugged and beautiful country in Scotland. I am a member of the Backpackers Club and The Long Distance Walkers Association. I have a motorbike in Lesotho, as that it is the most practical way of travelling in this mountainous country and is an essential tool to enable microfinance to reach outlying villages.
